2022-2023 Scholarship Recipient
Jaclyn Catalano
Jackie is a Senior Hotel, Resort, and Tourism Management major with an Italian minor from Houston, Texas. Over the course of her time at Coastal Carolina University, she has challenged herself both within her academics and her extracurriculars. She currently serves as President for her co-ed professional business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. She is also a student executive leader, a member of the club soccer team, a member of the international business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma, and a Floyd Family Mentor, all while maintaining a 3.97 GPA. Over the past summer, she had an incredible opportunity to both intern and study abroad in Sorrento, Italy. It was an amazing experience to learn more about the Hospitality industry from an international perspective. She also had the privilege of studying at the Sant’Anna Institute where she took Italian and Tourism classes to help further her knowledge and appreciation of the Italian culture and the global tourism industry. She plans to graduate in May 2024, and is currently working on her application for Marriott’s Voyage Program. If accepted, she hopes to complete the program in the states, and then work for a Marriott property somewhere in Europe. She is excited to see where her career path will lead her!

2013 - CNC Recognized on Donor Wall at CCU
In December 2013, CCU established the Dean's Society Donor Wall to recognize its donors. The unveiling was held in the main lobby of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. Coastal Network Cooperative is recognized on an engraved plate at the Founder's Level for donors of $25,000-99,000.
History of the CNC Scholarship Endowment
A native of Indiana, Matt Harper migrated south after graduating from the University of Southern Indiana in 1986 where he earned a BS in Communications with emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising. He had more than 20 years work experience in the Myrtle Beach area with emphasis in sales, marketing, and management. In 1993 he was a founding member of Coastal Network Cooperative and continued to actively participate and support the organization.
Matt set the standard for hospitality and generosity; the Coastal Network Cooperative membership will always strive to continue this legacy. Matt understood the idea of helping others and the positive influence of cooperative partnerships. He focused on sharing his experience with others. He viewed mentoring students as an opportunity for him to invest in the future success of Myrtle Beach and the hospitality industry. Matt exceeded expectations in all that he did by embracing the spirit of hospitality and the value of excellent customer service.
Community outreach was a priority for Matt. He actively worked with the local chapters of the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, and Humane Society. He also volunteered his time and expertise to the charitable drives of the local police and fire departments.
Matt Harper was a man who gave generously and expected nothing in return. This endowment memorializes Matt and celebrates the hospitality and generosity of all Coastal Network Cooperative members.
